Health & Medical
Functional for staff, calm for patients
A medical practice has to be highly functional so staff can work efficiently and respond quickly to emergencies. It also needs to balance professional and comfortable, so patients feel they are in good hands and as relaxed as possible.
We consider sustainability, the efficient use of smaller spaces and new ways to help people feel comfortable. At the Gold Coast GP Super Clinic, built under the Australian Government's GP Super Clinics Program, we refined an approved design to add visual texture and better energy efficiency within a strict budget.

Asked and answered
What should I consider when building a medical centre?
Location, convenience, visibility and land size; who your patients are; whether the space handles peak traffic with privacy; council and regulatory requirements; and a functional, comfortable workspace for staff. We offer an initial consultation to raise critical issues early.
What are the current trends in medical centre design?
Serene interiors that reduce anxiety, a home away from home feel, noise reduction, natural light, gardens and garden views, casual café and lounge areas, and multi-purpose furniture.
Can you work within an existing development approval?
Yes. At the GP Super Clinic we worked within a previously approved permit, making minor changes to the facade and envelope to improve texture and energy efficiency.
